Cariitti lighting brings everyday luxury to everyday life, both in the sauna and in the dressing rooms.
The atmosphere of the sauna is created by the harmony of benches, panels and lighting
A unique sauna is made of Finnish quality. In the design of Cariitti, benches and wall panels are combined into the perfect pair and crowned with high-quality, beautiful lighting. The sauna benches, panels and lighting – even the heater – can be obtained in the same place.
A new sauna can be purchased for a home in the construction phase, but also in connection with a sauna renovation.
The sauna gets a unique look when its benches are made of shape-pressed birch plywood and not of solid wood in the traditional way. The soft and streamlined design of the Taive collection can continue in the sauna panels and also in the dressing rooms.
“Timelessness is important to many, which means that in addition to the bench materials, it is hoped that also the design will stand the test of time. Our customers are usually looking for something else than traditional sauna solutions,” says Peter Ruokonen from Cariitti Oy.
The soothing appearance of the sauna can continue all the way to the dressing room in its furniture and walls.
A very special sauna
Cariitti has become familiar to sauna builders for its atmospheric sauna lighting, but now the company has expanded its repertoire to include the entire interior of the sauna: the sauna benches, panels and lighting – even the stove – can be obtained from the same place.
“Our benches and panels differ from traditional designs and layouts. When integrated lighting is added to them, the end result is an atmospheric, beautiful and high-quality entity,” Ruokonen describes.
All Taive benches are of high quality and made in Cariitti’s workshop in Espoo of domestic raw materials. The products have a small carbon footprint and have been awarded the Key Flag Symbol for the Finnish origin and work.
The right kind of lighting raises the atmosphere of the sauna to a new level.
High wall panels made of veneer material
The material used for the benches is Finnish birch plywood, lined with Hemlock or CWP birch veneer.
All adhesive binding is made with weatherproof D4 glue with emission class M1. The structure guarantees very high stress strength and low deformation of moisture.
Taive sauna panels are designed to be the perfect pair of benches. They are made of four-side-tongued interior panels, which gives a lot of possibilities for different paneling models.
The dimensions of the visible surface of the panel are 2400 x 280 mm, and the thickness is 10 mm. Like in benches, the material of the panels is domestic birch plywood, lined with Hemlock or CWP birch veneer. Sauna panels can be colored in the same shades as the benches.
–Panels made of veneer material are taller than typical sauna panels, so they provide a large smooth and calm surface for the sauna, Ruokonen says.
The Aspectu heat and humidity meter reflects the readings onto the panel surface.
Integrated lighting crowns the sauna
The lighting creates a large part of the atmosphere of the sauna, especially when it is designed to match the furnishings and the colors of the sauna. Cariitti’s lighting can be integrated into the benches, wall or ceiling.
“When the lighting is integrated into the benches and pre-dimensioned, installation is easy,” Ruokonen says.
In addition to the lights, the interesting and visual lighting fittings bring a very special atmosphere to the sauna. Aspectu, for example, is a new kind of digital heat and humidity meter that reflects heat and humidity readings through the wooden panel. Sauna bathers can see the readings reflected on the panel surface.
The Aspectu meter can be placed very freely in a suitable place on the wall of the sauna room, and it is available in the same shades as the Taive wall panel: Koivu, Hemlock, Kelo, Kuura, Kaarna and Noki.
Taive benches, high wall panels and the right lighting together create a sauna that is much more than traditional.
Lighting continues to the dressing rooms
The lighting of the sauna can continue to the bathroom, dressing room and even to the fireplace room as a seamless entity – this way the sauna experience and the soothing atmosphere can continue even after the sauna bathing.
The importance of light for recovery and well-being is surprisingly important, as light affects, for example, the endocrine system, sleep and mood in us humans.
In human-centered lighting, the color spectrum, light timing, and intensity are adjusted to support our body’s rhythm and internal clock. Light reduces the secretion of melatonin in the body, a hormone that promotes sleep, so it is advisable to reduce bright and cold lighting every time you go to bed.
Modern lighting can be controlled in many ways. The color and intensity of the light can be adjusted, for example, through a mobile device. Sensors, detectors and timers contribute to energy savings when lighting is used wisely and as needed.
The quality of the lighting has a key impact on how we see the colors around us and how we perceive the atmosphere of the space. Light sources with good color rendering and the ability to adjust the color temperature make, for example, a fireplace and dressing room – or any space in your home – a pleasant place to enjoy the good feeling after the sauna.
